About Deland
Founded in 1876 by Henry A. DeLand, ?The Athens of Florida?, Deland Florida is a city that takes pride its rich history and culture. Deland is home of Stetson University which was originally founded by Henry DeLand in 1883 as the DeLand Academy. Other points of historical interest include the Athens Theater, Dutton House, Michaelos Building and the building in which South Trust Bank resides, originally the first department store in 1898.
